Jost Van Dyke, BVI
Don't be fooled by the size of Jost Van Dyke. Despite being the smallest of the three major British Virgin Islands, Jost more than holds its own in terms of beautiful anchorages and things to see and do. The north side, however, is a steep and inhospitable shore, leaving yachtsmen the abbreviated shoreline of the south on which to concentrate their efforts.
Approach is easy, with wide open vistas and deep waters right up to the land in many places. Most anchorages are well-marked, and visual cues are easy to spot from 1/2 mile or more.
Jost is an excellent place to clear into the BVI, with a customs house in Great Harbour that is both charming and usually uncrowded. Other anchorages along the south side offer great pickings for views, beach bars, and idyllic tropical solitude. Click on the chart below to take a closer look at some of our favorites.
