Tortola, BVI
The center of the sailing world in the BVI (although the Bitter End Yacht Club on Virgin Gorda might argue the point), Tortola is also the commercial and travel hub of these islands. Most charters begin here, and the bustling streets of Road Town are both a great place to provision (prices are much better than at outlying islands), and to explore the history and character of the capital.
But mostly sailors flock to Tortola for the storied anchorages, secluded spots, and camaraderie of like-minded adventurers. Some of the classic spots can be a bit crowded during high season, but if it's fun you're looking for, you're headed to the right place. Click on the chart below to take a closer look.
