St. Thomas, USVI
While St. Thomas may have more hustle and bustle than a lot of cruising sailors want, you have to admit this: It's got everything - convenient, inexpensive travel through a major airport (and close, too), reasonable provisioning, first-class marine services, world-class shopping. And if you look around just a little bit, you'll find the quiet areas that let you down shift quickly into cruising mode again. Heck, Water Island is a fantastic haven less than a mile from downtown Charlotte Amelie. Buck Island is the most consistent sea turtle viewing we've ever had, and it's a short sail out of the harbor. Magen's Bay on the north shore has one of the most stunning beaches in the Virgins. Give St. Thomas a try. You won't be disappointed.
